Astros assistant general manager/scouting director Bobby Heck will have all 21 members of his scouting staff in for a four-day meeting during the first full week of January.
A little over a year since taking over as the Astros' scouting director, the man charged with helping to replenish the franchise's depleted farm system welcomes six new scouts this year. Since Heck took over, 11 of the 21 members of his staff are new, including his assistant, Mike Burns.
"They'll arrive on Monday, and I've got a meeting with my regional supervisors and cross-checkers," Heck said. "We'll meet in the afternoon and part of the evening.
