If Mavs owner is so rich, why isn't he smarter? (AP) If Mark Cuban thinks bumping heads with David Stern is frustrating, wait until he tries it with the feds. They have all the resources any lawyer could want -- and absolutely no sense of humor. Fines and a few hours of community service behind the soft-serve machine at Dairy Queen is not their idea of punishment.

Mavericks Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
A trip to quiet Charlotte is just what the Dallas Mavericks needed
Tuesday before finishing off an all-road back-to-back at Southwest
Division rival Houston on Wednesday.
Talk about a change of scenery for the Mavs after escaping Madison
Square Garden on Sunday with an overtime victory that snapped a
grueling five-game losing streak. The Charlotte mausoleum, also known
as Time Warner Cable Arena, is an abomination.
But, so are Larry Brown's Bobcats. How bad did it get for the
Bobcats? Mavs forward Shawne Williams, who hadn't played since a
three-minute stint on Nov. 9, saw first-quarter playing time.
"We had it going the whole game except four minutes in the fourth
quarter," coach Rick Carlisle said.

NBA Capsules (AP)Dirk Nowitzki scored 32 points, Josh Howard added 21 and the Dallas Mavericks never trailed in a 100-83 rout of the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday night, delighting owner Mark Cuban a day after he was charged with insider trading. With Cuban sitting along the baseline and as animated as usual, the Mavericks toyed with the lifeless, undermanned Bobcats in their second straight win.

With Cuban watching, Mavericks rout Bobcats 100-83 (AP)

Mark Cuban yelled and cheered from his courtside seat during the game, then high-fived his players after it was over. The boisterous Dallas Mavericks owner didn't act any differently a day after being charged with insider trading. His team, meanwhile, stopped looking like the dysfunctional unit that started the season.

SEC charge will hit Cuban's 'every fan' rep (AP)

Since buying the Dallas Mavericks eight years ago, Mark Cuban has turned the team around and made himself one of the most visible owners in pro sports. Along the way, he's picked up his share of critics. Some say he's a nuisance to the NBA, with more than $1 million in fines held up as evidence. Some Mavs fans say his constant baiting of officials merely leads to more calls against the team.

Stackhouse exploring options to leave Dallas (AP)Jerry Stackhouse sat in front of his locker 90 minutes before Dallas' game with Charlotte on Tuesday sorting through dozens of tickets for family and friends in his return to North Carolina, where he grew up and starred in college. Once Stackhouse was finished putting the 52 tickets in various envelopes, he stayed in his street clothes, ready for another night on the inactive list as his agent...

Mavs beat Knicks in OT to end 5-game skid (AP)

The losing streak felt like "two or three months" to Dirk Nowitzki, so the Dallas Mavericks didn't mind having to go a few extra minutes to end it. Especially because they seemed headed for another loss for nearly all of regulation. Nowitzki scored seven of his season-high 39 points in overtime and grabbed 15 rebounds, and the Mavericks snapped a five-game skid with a 124-114 victory over the New...

Magic end 10-year losing skid in Dallas (AP)

When Jason Terry's shot bounced out and time expired during a scramble for the rebound, Jameer Nelson jumped on Dwight Howard's back and rode off. There was a lot to celebrate -- the Orlando Magic's first victory in Dallas since 1997, and a win they probably had no business pulling off. The Magic were down by as many as 15 and by 11 early in the fourth quarter.

Gordon scores 35, Bulls charge past Mavericks (AP)

They barely had time to work up a sweat before the Chicago Bulls found themselves trailing by 19 points Thursday night against the Dallas Mavericks. And less than six minutes into the game, the boos started rolling across the United Center. "It's only the first quarter of an NBA game, so I knew we'd come from behind somehow," Chicago rookie Derrick Rose said.

Kobe, Lakers beat Mavs, improve to 6-0 (AP)

Down after one quarter, two and even three, the Los Angeles Lakers found themselves in an unfamiliar place. Yet even with the Dallas Mavericks getting terrific games out of Jason Kidd and Erick Dampier, Kobe Bryant and friends found a way to pull out another one. Trevor Ariza turned an offensive rebound into an emphatic, go-ahead dunk early in the fourth quarter and added an equally emphatic block...

Mavs to be without Josh Howard vs. Lakers (AP)Mavericks forward Josh Howard missed a second straight game Tuesday night, keeping Dallas without one of its top defenders against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. Howard sprained his left wrist against Denver on Friday night. Without him, the Mavs were trampled 103-92 Sunday by the previously winless Los Angeles Clippers.

Clippers get first win, beating Mavericks 103-92 (AP)

For the second straight season, Baron Davis' team lost its first six games before getting that elusive first victory. Last season, Davis was with the Golden State Warriors. Now he's with the Los Angeles Clippers, whom the Warriors beat a year ago to end their drought. "It's pretty much the same feeling -- a feeling of frustration," Davis said Sunday, after getting 22 points and 10 assists in the...
