  • Jaguars Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

The Jaguars didn't play very well this year when they were playing for a playoff berth.

Now the question is whether they'll play any better now that they're playing only for pride.

The 24-14 loss to the Titans dropped them to 4-6 and all but dashed their playoff hopes. They're not mathematically eliminated, but they don't have a realistic chance. Even coach Jack Del Rio admitted after the game that they only have a "very remote possibility" of making the playoffs.

So the task for Del Rio is to keep the team motivated for their final six games and avoid a complete collapse when they don't have the playoff carrot in front of them.

Del Rio, though, didn't seem worried that the Jaguars will go through the motions and tank the rest of the season even though...

  • Jags search for motivation amid slim playoff hopes (AP)The Jacksonville Jaguars are accustomed to being out of the AFC South race, just not this early. Kerry Collins and the Tennessee Titans delivered the first punch and the knockout blow. Collins foiled the Jaguars (4-6) for the second time this season, eliminating them from the division race and ruining just about any chance they had of returning to the postseason.

Jack Del Rio was pumping his fist and screaming kudos to his players as the Jacksonville Jaguars jogged toward the locker room with a 14-3 lead. It was a premature celebration, especially against the league's only unbeaten team. Behind, ahead. Home, away. Run, pass. Backups, starters. No matter the situation, the Tennessee Titans keep finding ways to win -- and staying undefeated.

  • 'Goliath' heads to Jacksonville, seeks 10-0 start (AP)The oddsmakers seemingly have more confidence in the Jacksonville Jaguars than their coach. Jack Del Rio didn't give his team much of a chance against unbeaten Tennessee (9-0) on Sunday. Maybe he was offering up his best Vince Dooley or Lou Holtz impression, or maybe he was trying a new tactic to motivate players reeling from what has been a disappointing season.

Peterson feels as if he might be getting moved aside, and coach Jack Del Rio hasn't ruled out leaving the 32-year-old player on the bench the rest of the season.

Linebacker Mike Peterson assumed his usual spot in the middle of Jacksonville's defense Wednesday. He's unsure how long he will remain there. Peterson believes the Jaguars (4-5) are ready to move in another direction, willing to keep the 32-year-old team captain on the sideline for the rest of the season.
