Chiefs Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
The Chiefs are officially in the darkest period in franchise history.
Their 30-20 home loss to the Saints was their sixth straight, dropped their record to 1-9 and was their 18th defeat in 19 games dating back to 2007.

Paul Wiggin, the successor to the legendary Hank Stram, saw his last team finish with six consecutive losses to end a 2-12 campaign—worst in franchise history—in 1977. New coach Marv Levy saw his first Kansas City team start out 2-10 en route to a 4-12 campaign. That's a stretch of two victories over 18 games, which is like looking up to the current Chiefs, who remember the nine-game slide that ended the '07 season. The frustration mounts for a...

KC's special teams sinking in pool of injuries (AP)Chiefs special teams coach Mike Priefer can't help himself when making comparisons between coaching in the NFL and commanding military aircraft. Saints breeze past Chiefs for first road win (AP)

Like a slick and experienced salesman, Drew Brees knows how to close. Kansas City, desperate for a win, scored in the fourth quarter to get within seven points and had the home crowd raising a ruckus. But Brees coolly took the NFL's top-ranked offense on a 12-play drive that ate 6 minutes and 27 seconds off the clock and was capped by Garrett Hartley's 35-yard field goal.

"You could see some new Chiefs on the horizon," head coach Herm Edwards said Tuesday, trying his best to keep a happy face.

Hart's play saves Chargers in win over Chiefs (AP)

This wasn't about changing defensive coordinators in midseason. It was about making a play that quite possibly saved the San Diego Chargers' season.
