Giants a familiar foe for Eagles CB Asante Samuel (AP)Asante Samuel started jogging off the field, stopped and fell to the turf, unable to reach the sideline on his own because of the pain from a hip strain. The Philadelphia Eagles couldn't afford to be without the two-time Pro Bowl cornerback, especially after the Minnesota Vikings took a 7-6 lead on the first play Samuel missed.

Eagles Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
The Eagles' defensive game plan worked to perfection in Sunday's 26-14 playoff win over the Minnesota Vikings: stop running back Adrian Peterson, then turn up the heat on quarterback Tarvaris Jackson.
With the exception of Peterson's 40-yard second-quarter touchdown run, when the Vikings guessed right and caught the Eagles coming with a blitz, the Eagles neutralized the NFL rushing champ, holding him to 43 yards on his other 19 carries.
They also took care of business with the inexperienced Jackson. The Vikings quarterback completed just 15 of 35 passes for 164 yards, and had an interception returned for a touchdown by cornerback Asante Samuel.
The Eagles' pass defense has been on fire the last two months.

Eagles clicking at just the right time (AP)All the ingredients are there for the Philadelphia Eagles to go deep in the playoffs except for home-field advantage. They have a stifling defense that creates game-changing turnovers. They have playmakers on offense who come through in key spots. They have a reliable kicker and a dynamic returner. With five wins in their last six games, momentum is on Philly's side, too.

Everyone wants to be last year's Giants (AP) With the second round of the NFL playoffs upon us, there are multiple aspirants to become last season's Giants, the team from nowhere that swept through the postseason to an improbable Super Bowl title. Unfortunately for the Giants, they aren't one of them. They are the NFC's top-seeded team, the hunted instead of the hunter, as they prepare to meet Philadelphia for the third time this season.
