  • Chargers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

LaDainian Tomlinson is nothing if not honest.

While a parade of Chargers were spinning the positive Monday—in wake of the team's third loss in four games Sunday in Pittsburgh—Tomlinson delivered a dose of truth serum about the team's dwindling playoff hopes.

"I think so, I really do," Tomlinson said. "We are two games back. We are not out of it, but it's like blown opportunities we keep on talking about when we could have easily been tied with Denver right now."

The Chargers, at 4-6, are in a world of hurt. While their next three games are at home, they come against a surging Colts team, an improved Falcons squad and their biggest divisional foe, the Raiders.

After falling 11-10 to the Steelers, the sands in this season's hour glass are being...

The league is so skittish about the city that a few years ago it refused to allow a television ad promoting Las Vegas to air during the Super Bowl.
  • LT can feel season slipping away (AP)The underachieving San Diego Chargers had a long, quiet plane ride home from Pittsburgh, the scene of their latest debacle. "Nobody said much. • Mistake in Steelers game costs some bettors big (AP)The Pittsburgh Steelers walked off the field Sunday just happy they had won. A lot of bettors in this gambling city were more concerned by how many points they ended up winning by. San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers looks to pass in the second half of an NFL football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh, Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008. The Chargers lost to the Steelers 11-10.

There's never been a game like this in NFL history. The bizarre 11-10 final score was fitting because the Chargers still haven't had the regular-season finish they want in Pittsburgh: a winning one. Ben Roethlisberger stayed away from the mistakes that cost the Steelers their previous two home games, Willie Parker ran for 115 yards and Jeff Reed's third field goal won it -- a 32-yarder with 11...

This wasn't about changing defensive coordinators in midseason. It was about making a play that quite possibly saved the San Diego Chargers' season.
