Avalanche Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Maybe a 10-minute team meeting will be enough to jolt an Avalanche team that needs some shaking up.
The response will be known soon enough when the Avalanche, coming off an embarrassing 4-1 loss Tuesday in Calgary, takes on the Flames again Thursday night at the Pepsi Center.
As is almost always the case, players wouldn't discuss what was said during the closed-door powwow, but chances are pretty good they spoke about playing with more passion, giving goalie Peter Budaj more help and actually scoring more than a token goal. All three would go a long way to improving the team's situation.
The Avalanche, 8-9-0 for the year, has been a ridiculously streaky bunch since the season began with a three-game losing streak that was followed by a five-game winning streak.

Flames fire 51 shots in 4-1 win over Avalanche (AP)

The Calgary Flames were determined to find a way to turn around their rough November, no matter how hard Peter Budaj made it for them. The Flames overcame a 47-save performance by Budaj and earned a 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night. Calgary, which improved to 4-5 in November, had lost five of seven before Tuesday -- including an embarrassing 6-1 defeat in San Jose last week.
