The Blues suffered another major injury in Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss to Montreal when McDonald slid into the boards awkwardly and fractured his left leg. The team says McDonald is out indefinitely, which will cost them their leading scorer.
McDonald was left off the NHL All-Star ballot recently, despite leading the Blues with 18 points (six goals, 12 assists).
"Andy has been, to this point in the season, our best player," coach Andy Murray said. "Nobody feels sorry for us. (But) we battled one of the better teams in the league right to the end with the lineup we had (Sunday). So, give our guys credit, we'll find a way." The 23-year-old Crombeen had a goal and four assists, along with 26 penalty minutes, in 15 games with Dallas this season. He has a goal and six assists in 23 career games, all with Dallas.
